Elvira - A poem, Aug 2013

Elvira

She blows into the chasms of my mind
And I stretch my arms toward her.
Did anyone ever touch a phantasm?

But in the hush of the night
   I remember our telephone chinwags . . .
“No one will love you more,” I told her
And sobbing she whispered,
“You are the reason I live.”

These sentences and many more
Whirl in my mind like
Colourful, precious stones to form
The mosaic of our Love.

Above all however I remember
The long intervals of time
When silence reigned.

We didn’t try to find
The right words
Didn’t thumb through
The Lexicon of Love
’Cause we knew that silence proliferates

   The sentiments of our Love.
